Superintendent Ronnie Gray has announced that as of the date and time of this notice, the Suwannee County School District, working closely with local emergency management, consultation with the Florida Department of Emergency Management, and the National Weather Service, has decided to close school operations for Wednesday, January 22, 2025. During this closure period, there will be no before or after-school activities, including athletic events or practices. The Suwannee County School District will resume regular operations on Thursday, January 23, 2025, weather and conditions permitting. Any changes to this plan of action will be communicated by 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday afternoon, January 22, 2025, through the District’s website, social media, and local and regional television and radio broadcasts.
School bus operations are a central part of the decision to close school tomorrow. Current forecasts indicate the potential for icy roadways, which could create hazardous driving conditions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to make the best possible decisions, based on the information available at a given time.
